Wraps perceived as healthy sandwiches – Canada

Canadian sandwich consumers turn to wraps at lunchtime.

Burgers, subs and deli sandwiches rank highest when it comes to Canadian consumer preferences for sandwiches at lunch. But when healthy eating is a priority, almost 80% of consumers agree that wraps are a healthy sandwich option. Interestingly, only 30% of consumers said that wraps were easy to prepare at home – strengthening the wrap’s value and uniqueness on a sandwich menu.

What does this research mean for your menu?

If you’re looking to point your health-conscious customers in the right direction, add some flavorful but healthy wrap sandwiches to the menu. A large majority of diners will instantly make the association between wraps and health. One easy tip is to offer your popular salads as a wrap option. For example, the chain Salad Creations offers tuna salad, roasted vegetable and cucumber dill chicken salad wraps on the menu.
